    find . -name "*.JPG" -exec rename 's/\.JPG$/.jpg/' '{}' +

    +1. When you put /in front of a filename you're telling it to change to a subdirectory in the root directory.

    Just do a cd practicefiles.

    I got around the problem by creating a folder in / strictly for storing the .vdi's. Then secured it using chown & chmod. So now me & the wife could both load virtual XP.
