try install gstreamer-plugin-good and gstreamer-plugin-bad. search it it not the exact name,
u can make your own xorg.conf use gedit or other text editor and save it as xorg.conf

gstreamer-properties then change video output to X11, change video setting in vlc also,

u may search hidden .kde folder at your home directory, or kde folder at /etc or /usr
it may save your work when you logged out
do you still have KDE, if yes u may need to setting power management thee too
