    Can't get Canon MG3650S online

    I have a Canon MG4250 printer/scanner which has been fine until recently but has gone belly up.

    I have bought a Canon MG3650S which appears to have a similar spec and uses the same ink carts, but...
  2. [ubuntu] Re: [partly solved] Jammy: top bar issues with Clock and font colour

    For what it's worth, this is what I have done which tweaks the underlying Yaru theme, affecting the top panel (where the 'Activities' 'Applications' etc headings sit along with the Clock and...
  3. Re: timeout "xxx is not responding" is too short

    Spreadsheets can be several tens of thousands of rows (no macros) but what slows down loading, saving, sorting, copy/paste etc is that each row may contain a couple of hundred cells with formulae.
    ...
  4. timeout "xxx is not responding" is too short

    Many actions in my spreadsheets take a long time - tens of seconds - to run and I see the popup message a lot. I've also seen this a few times with other applications, so it isn't just a LibreOffice...

    Re: Reporting spam

    Reporting to whom?

    There's feedback to Gmail etc, who might tweak their systems to make spamming harder.

    And the authorities - police, government, banks... - may be interested in order to catch...
  6. [ubuntu] Re: [partly solved] Jammy: top bar issues with Clock and font colour

    @BlueAZ Dennis N got there first - no need to download a zip, what he illustrates did it for me.
  7. [ubuntu] Re: Thunderbird 102.2.2 shows unreadable folders and message pane

    This is speculative and beyond my comfort zone, but....

    Settings > General
    shows a screen with (in the RH panel) the first bold heading 'Thunderbird Start Page'
    scrolling down to the bottom...
  8. [ubuntu] Re: Thunderbird 102.2.2 shows unreadable folders and message pane

    View>Density making no difference is puzzling. It should space out (1) the icons on the Toolbar at the left (2) the list of folders & subfolders (3) the list of emails - all with the same vertical...
  9. [SOLVED] Re: Reinstalled Firefox but now get a missing profile message.

    Something here should help, although I think this predates the era of snap.

  10. [ubuntu] Re: Thunderbird 102.2.2 shows unreadable folders and message pane

    I think this may be the answer?

    Have you tried View > Density > Touch (choice is Compact, Normal, Touch in increasing spacing)
    or
    View > Font Size > Increase font size

    I can't reproduce your...

    [SOLVED] Thunderbird -> Browser

    I know this isn't really a Ubuntu problem, but this is a forum of experts across the piece, so...

    Thunderbird seems to think the Browser is a black hole, not Firefox. How can I set it straight?

  12. [ubuntu] Re: [partly solved] Jammy: top bar issues with Clock and font colour

    @Dennis N
    I have no idea why, but for me the settings in Tweaks > Top Bar > Clock were not affecting the display (even after a Reboot) which is why I was trying other options.
    Thanks for the tip...
  13. [ubuntu] [partly solved] Jammy: top bar issues with Clock and font colour

    I have found a solution for Issues 2 and 3.

    Issue 1: the css reference at www.w3schools.com>cssref>color suggests this should be the key which would change the text colour. But in the context of...
  14. [ubuntu] Re: Jammy Top bar: issue with Places-Status-indicator

    @tea for one
    You've described precisely the behaviour I expect. But it doesn't happen.

    I would not expect to have to define 'Desktop', 'Documents' (etc) as bookmarks, shouldn't this be...

    Does anyone else use Gnome Tweaks on 22? Absolutely. Should be preinstalled.

  17. Re: Total noob. How do I even Ubuntu on Windows?

    If you want to know where the windows file system is (as seen from Linux), try one of the Ubuntu file managers
    Nautilus (the default one) : look under Other Locations
    Nemo: look under devices

  18. [ubuntu] Jammy Top bar: issue with Places-Status-indicator

    Re: Firefox not working after upgrade

    Definitely take notice of this. In fact, I'd be inclined to copy the old Firefox data to preserve it somewhere amongst your own data to guard against the faint(?) possibility that any...
  21. [ubuntu] Re: I finished to install Ubuntu 22.4 LTS and ALT+GR Key not function

    I have an English (UK) keyboard and both

    AltGr + `
    and

    Shift + \
    generate the pipe character for me (either shift key will do).

    Maybe the second will work for you?

    [SOLVED] Re: Gnome Desktop - Top Bar colours

    @pantazi

    Great! This worked for me with one change.
    'Tweaks' does not have the 'Extensions' menu within which I could make the choice. Maybe that is a change for Jammy.
    But there was a...
