I encountered a doc file recently that opened noticeably differently in OOo than it did in MS Office. I think the difference was a small change in spacing that pushed some text onto the next line. ...
so does anyone understand what's actually going on with the open-source intel drivers? are they being developed by intel employees or community members? the websites are ambiguous.
i will note only that i too experienced performance regressions on an intel 965. not sure what to do except wait for new drivers.
if you want to try updating your driver to an unstable but newer one, use this guy; very simple process but risky.

i don't really know about opengl...
this is not a constructive criticism or an intelligent post, but i am curious about the answer.
WHY DO THE INTEL VIDEO DRIVERS SUCK SOOOOOOOOOO MUCH? watching flash videos should not require...
me too! i like linux so much that i abandoned my ~$200 worth of itunes purchases, my netflix subscription, my entire library of computer games (which are unplayable on the linux intel video driver),...
@3Dragz: Thanks! I looked into that fellow's tool, but I have to compile it myself and it have run into a weird error trying to do so. At least it's a start. If I figure it out, I'll post the...
no solution, but i lol'd at the title.
bippity bop? i imagine i would have to recompile something, eh? looking to terminal commands, it would seem that the lowest meaningful value i can enter = slider at its lowest setting. setting...
Not expecting anyone to single-handedly solve this, but I'm surprised there isn't a sticky thread yet. After updating from 9.04, where I had solved my performance problems with updated xorg drivers,...
my useless 2 cents, just because you bumped:
seems like a good choice. i too have heard that nvidia cards tend to be more reliable in linux, even though the drivers are closed-source. i assume...
thank you. i solved the problem, see previous post. for some reason i think the dictionaries weren't packaged with it at all. maybe a glitch in one of the 9.10 pre-release builds i downloaded? ...
lol?
PROBLEM SOLVED! Here's what I did. It's a stupid, hacky solution.
1. Installed openoffice 3.1.1 in Windows XP on a different partition.
2. Mounted that partition in linux
3. Via OOo's extension...
no luck!! :(

aha! no thesaurus module appears! thank you! I will attempt to resolve it tomorrow; tonight-->sleep.
i do see it :(. thank you for the suggestion.
Hi--
i just got this razer 3500dpi mouse, which i love, except that it's so sensitive that it's nearly unusable in ubuntu. i have the sensitivity and acceleration sliders dragged all the way...
hi--
downloaded the karmic RC, downloaded updates.
In openoffice, the thesaurus is grayed out. I checked the language, and I'm using USA English. Anyone else? Any ideas?
Here is a similar story, but not necessarily a resolution to your problem:
Using Ubuntu and firefox, megavideo's videos won't load. Videos on other sites work fine. If I boot into Windows,...
karmic installed. great success :)
hi.
irrelevant: i have all these tests next week, and i know i'm going to get so excited about karmic that i'll interrupt my studying to install it, which could take up a lot of time. that's why...
will other CDs function as boot mediums? are your bios settings such that the CD comes before the hard disk?
on the DL, installing inside windows can cause weird problems that no one understands...
um, everything was fine, then i updated to 2.9.0 via update manager, now anything that tries to use 3d CRASHES AND BURNS!! without a trace!! what happened?
EDIT:
