Had the same problem as the OP with a clean apache+php install. Restarting apache was enough to get everything going.

Sorry, wrong again. I'm also on 0.8.2 as recommended by the tutorial (I followed the instructions on compiling the drivers). I'm not using the drivers in the repositories as those are still on...
By the way, does suspend and resume work correctly with jaunty?
Here goes my complete dmesg. I do have some tty related lines after all. The first time I tried to look for them I had the computer up for to long and did to much suspend and resumes so the dmesg...
I'm on 0.8.1.4. I was thinking about upgrading to jaunty and now I'm not so sure it's a good idea :-(
