  1. [ubuntu] Natty: How to change color depth from 24 bit to 16 bit

I want to play a legacy game that requires 16 bit color depth, but the standard instructions for changing it don't seem to be working for me, since it assumes an NVIDIA graphics card while I have a ...
  2. [SOLVED] Re: GRUB Problem after 10.04 LTS upgrade to latest kernel

Sorry for the lateness of my reply; I've been working out the dare and have since fixed the issue by following the instructions linked in this thread for chrooting into sda and installing the...
  3. [SOLVED] Re: GRUB Problem after 10.04 LTS upgrade to latest kernel

Sorry for the bump, but could someone advise me on what is essentially the exact same problem? (Downgrading to 10.04 from natty.) My own boot_info_script gives:

    [SOLVED] Re: CK patch set

It works! Unfortunately, since I installed it (64 bit maverick), the default Fn + F5/F6 shotcuts for screen brightness stopped working, for the nonmodified kernel as well, although sound volume...

[ubuntu] Re: ctl alt f1-6 and recovery mode (CLI) don't work

Edit: I think I managed a temporary fix. What I did was set visual effects, under System-> Appearance, to None.

1.98, both methods agree. I tried options 1-3 (don't think there's any for 1 or 3), don't think I managed 4. Still no luck, unfortunately.

[ubuntu] Re: ctl alt f1-6 and recovery mode (CLI) don't work

    Believe my NVIDA is
    NVIDIA® GeForce® 9300M.

    In /etc/grub.d/10_linux:

    if [ "x$GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX" != x ]; then
    cat << EOF
    set gfxpayload=$GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX
    EOF

[ubuntu] Re: ctl alt f1-6 and recovery mode (CLI) don't work

Fraid I don't have any gfxpayload in my header. (There's no flashing underscore for me either, just nothing =/). My grub just got autoinstalled from Unetbootin's live usb.
