The only other thing I can suggest at the moment is to disassemble the laptop and remove the wireless card? If that's even possible.

Is there not a wireless switch on the laptop? If not; is there an option in the bios to turn it off? There should be at least 1 of those available.

I would say use the upgrade button. Be aware though, upgrading takes a long time.
