Re: How to create a Linux distro

If you make it public, then you also need to archive and keep perfect copies of 'every-single-package' that makes up the system.

    [ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu 15.04 Install

I've raised a bug and let the devs know that Welcome.html needs updating to 15.04. I was truly amazed however that it took under 5 minutes to complete installation. Like.. O__O
  3. Re: mozilla breaking away from google. how do you feel about google ?

I like using Google products. Plus most of my family and friends do as well so using any privacy products within a Google ecosystem will be kind of missing the point.

I find the only way to use...
  4. Re: free or free open source video , voice chat !

    Check out https://tox.im

It does IM and Video calling and is open source. Though I just use Skype because all my family do.

    Re: Disappointed with MATE...

After 8 years you would be on a sys admin level of knowledge and here's me thinking synaptic is 'harder' to use than the Software Center. I say, don't feed the troll :P

Re: Why no Ubuntu in the US?

Just buy a second hand Lenovo x series from 2009. I have an x200s, runs ubuntu like a champ and has features that no netbook has (spill resistant, carbon roll cage, backlight).

Re: > 4 GB RAM = Bragging Rights and Nothing More

I have 2GB in my machine. It never uses more then this, swap is unused. Some games from steam, gog, programming, document stuff etc. All you need is 2GB, 4GB is pointless unless you play the...

Re: Anyone tried Fedora 21 Gnome?

    +1

Fedora has nothing that I need or want in it's repo's. They are so (RH, Fedora, Cent) bent on using FOSS but seemingly have no problems with binary blobs in the kernel nor with RH for...

Re: My New Windows 8.1 Desktop

As much as I like using my wife's Apple Products, I'd never buy one myself.

I'll just buy the Ubuntu phone in February and use that as my music, phone, social device. Plus it'll work with...

    Re: Librem 15 a Free/Libre Software Laptop

I like how they do the same as Dell etc though and don't let you pick cheaper hardware to lower the price, only to raise it. Should a free/libre laptop offer the option to choose say, a 32GB SSD and...

    Re: UK goverment on ODF

You don't need to use MS Office to use ODF. If everyone switched to LibreOffice, problem solved.

They would also save money which could be used for other purposes.

Re: Why is Lubuntu faster than Ubuntu?

I hear sometimes the same argument for OS X, it's too different I cannot use it. Sometimes you need to give users an incentive to use it and they will learn it.

    Re: Lumina desktop

Lumina is basically for BSD, nuff said. Sure it would work on Linux but it isn't designed to do so, it is designed to be run for BSD's and on BSD's so that they have their 'own' desktop environment.

    How about..

    *you ready for this?*

Double-check and type it in the correct user password field?
  19. Re: [SOLVED] Melted plastic inside Altis ATX-350PT PSU

They don't normally pretty these things up. The average user isn't going to disassemble their PSU so they just give it a good coating (slopping it everywhere) instead of doing it nicely.

[ubuntu] Re: Which graphic driver should I choose???

If you have an older card, stick with the open source driver. AMD are not known for supporting their older cards very well. If it is a new card then check out the 'normal' proprietary driver.

  23. Re: Ubuntu seems faster than ever ... wondering why?

The latest 14.10 does run quite quick but so will 14.04 in february when it gets back ported updates to the kernel (3.16 from 3.13). Though I added a 32GB SSD today and it is very snappy. It's boot...

    Re: Suggesting Changes

Let's make it clear, if you don't like it, then don't use it. We don't need nor want people...
