Please post the output of /boot/grub/menu.lst file

Right click on the file and select extract here.Now you can go to the folder without terminal and there should be a read me file...it has the installation commands...if there is no read me file but...

I did what you said but i have audio but no video in vlc..in other players it plays fine

OK the problem solved..i added the all_generic_ide parameter to the boot options and everything works fine..

I have already installed it with no success...is there any other way to mount my hard disk???

Why it was detected during the installation but not when i boot into desktop???

The only improvement i noticed is that the transfer speed from sata to ide is 30mb/sec but between partitions of the same sata disk is only 20mb/sec.Any other setting i should change??
