Re: [IDEA] Same Respect For Kubuntu As Ubuntu

Then why does the program start when you try to start it the second time?
It happens with Kaffeine, kopete, and especially when you try to run adept or something else that needs root permission....

    Re: Learning a new language

And there I was thinking that Latin and Italian were somehow related, also Spanish and French are related to latin, they are all part of the Roman Languages (sorry guys, that's a literal translation,...

Poll: Re: KDE 4: A milestone or plain hype?

Didn't know it was a contest. These kind of technologies should be part of the free desktop project, for interoperabilities sake. Besides: the idea has been floating on Kde-look.org for a while now....

Re: huh??? also spies on ubuntu??

You sound like it wasn't publicised before that the NSA had helped SELinux, it's no news anymore for a long time by now. In Linux (and most open-source programs), there's a lot of peer review, and...
  7. Poll: Re: Things in KDE that drive you (me) mad

Might I add that the laptop suspending stuff has been added in Edgy for Kubuntu?
The annoyance with KDE sometimes (though in Edgy I encountered this problem less), is that some programs don't show...

Re: Some screenshots of what KDE4 will look like

I think they are working on a sytem wide adressbook, where Kopete and Kontact use the same base for their contact storage (as other programs can use it as well)

Re: Novell tells OpenOffice to fork off

Why not, Openoffice.org is known for MS Office compatibility so why rewrite this?

I just hope the code is usefull for competing projects as well, unlike their .doc filters.

    Re: Kubuntu unfairly treated?

Then why has he become one of the main sponsors of KDE?
Personally I believe a lot of the kept-as-afterthought-stuff could be solved by using yast instead of two different settings managers. That...

Poll: Re: Get rid of Mono

Or maybe GNOME made the wrong decision (which is the real reason ubuntu installs mono by default), by using kubuntu you can be quite sure you don't have any mono stuff installed (except the icons).

    Poll: Re: Kubuntu mugs?

If it's not too expensive, sure. Kubuntu of course ;-), with correct artwork, the one in cafepress looks like the artwork is printed wrong, the ubuntu one has been done better.

  15. Re: IS Koffice going to be default in feisty or not?

Krita is not worse than Gimp
    Kexi is better than OObase
    Karbon14 has no OO.org equivalent
OpenOffice.org word and spread are going to stay in the beginning, don't know about the presenter...

  17. Poll: Re: Poll; Does anyone actually play these games?

I just love that kubuntu comes with no games, if I want a stupid game I will install it myself, it's not like it's hard, but whether a game is fun, depends too much on personal taste, so why include...

    Poll: Re: GPL vs BSD

Of course, look at QT, it has a dual licence, one gpl, one proprietary. The author can decide what licence it takes, and for different use of the code there are different licences, if you want to...

    Poll: Re: LGBT Ubuntu subforum

Strange some people were against the gaybuntu.com site for exactly the opposit, they would prefer a subforum so there would be less segregation (gays going to gaybuntu.com for technical help).

    Poll: Re: LGBT Ubuntu subforum

So if I make a topic in the ubuntu cafe about www.itrick.org I wouldn't get very negative comments about it? Really how long do you think it will take until it gets buried in the backyard. Or if I...

Re: Once& for all will Ubuntu replace Fx ?

I think they will just go for Firefox as default, perhaps Iceweasel will be in main, for the purists, but considering that they already put the fox-globe icon back in place for edgy means that they...
