While trying to figure out what was going on I tried running files in VLC with Totem sitting next to it idle, and the issue vanished. So that explanation sounds reasonable. I'm bringing this to...
Got help in the IRC. To fix the issue you need to change the command in compiz config settings manager under the decorator plugin to:
gtk-window-decorator --replace
For some reason gnome 2 mode...
I'm running 11.04 with Gnome 2. I have to have the window decorations on in order to have a menu bar on my programs. The drop shadow settings appear to affect nothing. It only responds to a colour...
Well this happens even after I've opened VLC, and I have it set to run only one instance. It happens even if I just pause and resume playing the file. I tried using the open file dialog and the issue...
I just upgraded to 11.04 from Karmic, and I'm using VLC version 1.1.9. I noticed that when I go to play any kind of audio or video file in VLC (I've tested mp3, ogg, wav, flac, flv, avi, mp4, and...
The only behaviour I seem to be able to get out of it is to ask to mount everything, or not ask. I'm still cankering with it.
EDIT: Forgot to comment out the lines in the first file. Everything...
I tested the first option and it's asking for a password before mounting anything. I think I might leave it like that. I'll try out the other option you have in that post tomorrow, however I expect...
Excellent! I'll test this out in a VM later and see if it works.
I'm currently using an older version of ubuntu (Karmic) and want to finally update. Is there a way for me to get ubuntu to ask for a password before mounting a partition like Karmic did? I've been...
Bummer. I was hoping this would've been implemented.
Have you found a better substitute? I think you should be able to, but I think you'd have to modify the script directly.
I think that's the old PPA.
Equalization is actually needed for my speakers to function properly. Otherwise the metal grille above the speakers on my laptop resonate horribly. It just sucks that it breaks so many other things.
I'm curious as to why this feature isn't implemented into ALSA or Pulseaudio by default. Also, I noticed that the eq breaks sound coming from firefox.
I thought someone else had taken it over. I know it was a known issue, but I wanted to know if the newer version addressed the problem. Do you know what the cause of it is?
I haven't had a chance to try the new script yet. How is it with static noise? The version I'm running gets noisy when you adjust any settings, or the volume.
Oh, that's easy.
You create a launcher, then select application for the type. In the command box put this:
pulseaudio-equalizer-gtkHere's something to stick in the comment field if you want:
...
I don't think you can. The sound menu is part of Gnome, and the eq is just a LASPDA plugin. It would be nice to have a system wide eq, but for some reason people have been against it.
I think I missed something, did the OP drop this project?
The front microphone port on the front of my laptop isn't working. I'm running a HP DV7T. It was working before, but I guess it stopped after I got backport snapshots of the ALSA drivers for this new...
Well I didn't have many issues. I just had to edit the alsaconfig file and install the backports. Now that I follow the link in the second post the instructions aren't all too clear.
Now I know...
More information would be help us help you. I guess you're running on a dv7t. How old is the machine?
It's in the original post:
I just made a launcher for it, and the alsamixer utility. Faster and easier.
A dead tree perhaps?
