Yes, it look like I am talking about the udev rules, but in 16.04, the udev directory is empty!

I'm fully aware of the config file /etc/network/interfaces but...

I've tried searching for enp8s0 as it appears to be the new name instead of eth0.

Getting little to nothing useful to work with.

It used to be in /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules but that file no longer exists.

Tried the new kernel, but it did no good.

Just upgraded to 12.04 beta yesterday. First impressions appear that prediction is OK with 12.04.

It isn't hardware. Really, its not.

Battery prediction still works fine on 10.10 & also Windows.

I need to move forward with a fix for 11.10, or hope that 12.04 has a fix.

An additional note:

I booted to 10.10 live CD & running the previous commands gives the same results.

Strange that 10.10 was absolutely fine at predicting the battery.

Right... You can look at the original commands & use iwl3945 instead of iwl4965.

sudo apt-get install hwinfo

You are probably using a different driver to iwl4965.

Run this to see:


sudo hwinfo --netcard | grep Driver:

Modify the command you used earlier to fit your system.

I can confirm that "n" has been disabled.

As the connection problem is intermittent, I can only be sure that this is a fix after about two weeks.

I'm unsure whether this has any effect as I don't know whether this option is now switched off.
