Xine
Worked for me also.
Thanks!
Same here. Rhythmbox, clementine. Cued up and played the same files/songs that Amarok (used to) play.
Yes, that is where I verified that the correct sound card was selected and I was able to do the speaker test.
After upgrading from 11.10 to 12.04, songs (.mp3 format) played in Amarok (2.5) have no sound.
I had this trouble in the past with upgrades, and it had to do with PulseAudio overriding all working...
Ahh! Thanks!
The orange box appears when trying to select multiple items off the desktop. Is it possible that your mouse is overly sensitive?
I've had success in uninstalling and reinstalling Virtualbox. Kind-of a pain, but not so bad if you keep the various machine files backed up.
Something else I just thought of...
You could install 11.10 as a Virtualbox machine. That will enable you to find out if there is any hardware incompatibilities.
I run Virtualbox on several systems with native Ubuntu and it works great.
Glad you were able to fix it!
The clone drive option looks like the best for what you are interested in.
I have both, but prefer Ubuntu.
It's faster, cleaner, and less bloated than the Win OS.
However, there is certain software that will only work on a Win OS. WINE is great, and I use that to the...

To fix it, I opened alsamixer in terminal and found that one of the settings was muted for some reason. TAB between the settings and then...
Bug - Wireless connection drops every few minutes
Solution - I changed the MTU setting to 1500 from Auto
I had this same problem, though it was on a PC laptop.
I changed the MTU setting to 1500 from Auto and this seems to have solved it. Apparently there is a wireless bug in 11.10
I have 2 identical machines running 11.04x64. On one of the machines, the mouse click becomes disabled. I can move the pointer around the screen, but clicking on things has no effect. From what...
Ah. Will try that.
Great info, and thanks!
That worked. Thanks!
Duh on me.
I've read about the option to purchase programs but the "For Purchase" menu item does not appear in my software center (11.04). Is there something I need to do to enable it?
Thanks
Same problem here.
eta - solved. Played around with the settings in the vbox control panel. It automatically recognized the USB device and populated the necessary fields.
Based on what I had seen in the leadup to launch, I knew things would be different, but assumed it was largely minor and cosmetic. I had no idea it would be such a big change. I have a hard time...
Thanks, this worked perfectly
*Open /etc/shadow: gksudo gedit /etc/shadow
*Find the line that starts with the user you just made. Notice the line has multiple fields separated by colons....
I'll have to try this. I uninstalled pulseaudio in 10.10 because of sound issues and went with ALSA. But I couldn't get gnome-volume-control-applet to work. It used to work fine in previous...
