Solved by installing Lubuntu. Tho same problem happened when wake up from locked screen saver, it cured after installing the proprietary driver in "additional driver", pick the one with "updates"...

Live CD (USB installer) works partially. When I choose "try ubuntu", it ended with same error, but if I choose "install ubuntu" it run ok and the installation completed.

Login screen OK, but after entering user and password it stuck at default screen with "ubuntu 14.04 LTS" at bottom left of the screen with mouse cursor still working.

Longer waiting resulted in...

Tried gpart with gparted. Failed, and found nothing. Then i got tetter result with recuva, it took more than 18-20 hours with many files found. Unfortunately many of the files got red status,...

I am not really sure, but guess it is NTFS since i could use it on windows also.

Accidentally, i erased a 1 TB HDD (connected on usb) while i try to create bootable usb using start up disk creator.
Now it is empty. I have not write anything at it yet, Only browser it using...

I don't have compiz installed. I hate fancy effect, that is why i use Xubuntu and xfce.

Unfortunately after reboot it happened again so i have to redo it every time.

I also wonder what caused it.

After updating Xubuntu few weeks ago my Xubuntu lost the alt-tab function, it also lost the buttons to minimize, maximize and close app.

it doesn't work. Fortunately i found a solution on iasptk via ptheo:

sudo gedit /var/lib/dpkg/status

then remove all segment mentioned the culprit.

One day my pdnsd stopped working.
sudo netstat -lpn |grep:53 implied that the port used by dnsmasq.
So I mindlessly apt-get remove the dnsmasq because it refused to be killed.

This netbook also connected to internet using an USB CDMA modem, which is already shared to the...

I tried those but still failed to see the shared folder in the network.

What is the prerequisite? Should i installed samba or something else first?
