Live CD (USB installer) works partially. When I choose "try ubuntu", it ended with same error, but if I choose "install ubuntu" it run ok and the installation completed.
Login screen OK, but after entering user and password it stuck at default screen with "ubuntu 14.04 LTS" at bottom left of the screen with mouse cursor still working.
Longer waiting resulted in...
Tried gpart with gparted. Failed, and found nothing. Then i got tetter result with recuva, it took more than 18-20 hours with many files found. Unfortunately many of the files got red status,...

Accidentally, i erased a 1 TB HDD (connected on usb) while i try to create bootable usb using start up disk creator.

I don't have compiz installed. I hate fancy effect, that is why i use Xubuntu and xfce.

After updating Xubuntu few weeks ago my Xubuntu lost the alt-tab function, it also lost the buttons to minimize, maximize and close app.

then remove all segment mentioned the culprit.
