I have a samba server running Ubuntu Server 10.04.4 LTS and today I started getting lots of the following errors on console:

end_request I/O error, dev sda, sector [SOMENUMBER]

I ended up using this to fix grub:

Its compatible with raid arrays so no problems :D

for replacing the kernels, I just did:

So, if my RAID device is /dev/md0, while chrooted, I just do:

grub-install /dev/md0

and then try to install the kernel packages (I am guessing this would be a good time to use apt force...
