Yeah, I noticed the UE repositories were not working anymore, then the news feed. Just went to the UE site, well, tried to, and get a "Suspended Site" message, and that the webmaster must contact a...
Used a C4683 Photosmart in 9.10 without issues, and none so far in 10.04 (Lucid). Haven't tested the scanning feature in Lucid yet, but don't see why it shouldn't work, as it work perfectly in 9.10....
Also had no issues with a DeathAdder since 8.04 or so.

I thought it was crack, but maybe that depends on the version you are using?.

I advocate FOSS, I don't force it on anyone. If you want to use Vista, 7 or whatever, that is your choice. I choose not to, and will say so.
So I would say no, you have not sinned.

You must add the user to the vboxusers group, then logout and login again, and VirtualBox will appear on the menu, think it's under System Tools.

I second the recommendations already posted about trying a LiveCD to make sure that your hardware plays nicely, and then dual-boot/use Wubi once you install Ubuntu. Doing it like this will help you...
I agree with all of these points. I don't game anywhere near as much as I used to, and have found some nice games in Linux, so that's great. Not I play them much, but they're there if I want to.

Glad to hear you got it working, James. Another think I like about Evolution is that when you "Backup Settings", it saves the server information as well. So when you do a complete install after a...
Only time I've had mail sit in the Outbox for any period of time, is when the mail server is not accepting or there are network issues.
I would also suggest going to Edit/Preferences, and checking...
This is so true, I see many people who can barely afford to put food on the table, but have a cellphone, generally prepaid.
Even if the infrastructure was there for a land line, who says that...
I agree with the other posters about just sticking with the default theme that the DE you end up using provides. I did this when going from MS Office to OpenOffice, and then eventually XP to Ubuntu....
Lol, that sounds similar to my employer's policy, that plus a firewall so restrictive I got blocked from visiting sites related to my work. That they removed the blocks eventually, and only opened...
You have two choices here:
1. Dual-boot - which will present you with a choice to load either Ubuntu or Windows in your grub menu, but this is not virtualization. If you have already installed...
In my early days with OpenOffice, and also then converting from MS Office, I did not enjoy the OOo interface. But, that was just it, it was a different interface. And of course, some shortcut...
I frequent MyBroadband, a South African IT forum, but isn't ONLY about IT, and there are quite a number of overseas users I've seen.
For aviation-related stuff, I sometimes visit FlyAfrica, again...
It seems that too many people are lead to believe that Linux (or Ubuntu) are a replacement for Windows, when it should really be called an alternative to Windows.
I have been that the hardware I...
Thanks Saghaulor, already had the likewise-open-gui installed.
Also, the line did not count for me, as I did not have that file on my system, so I ignored it.
Now I can authenticate on the...
Had no issue using Runescape in Firefox recently, but I haven't played it for two weeks now, must have been FF 3.5.6 or so.

I have successfully opened .docx and .xlsx files in OpenOffice and been able to edit and save them, as well as the older .doc and .xls files.
Note that you should be careful about formatting...
I registered a Twitter account awhile ago in an attempt to "get it". I have never "tweeted" with it, but have one follower, thought that was funny.
Logged in once or twice after getting the...
Lol, it's a conspiracy from Redmond! :D
Seriously, though, I feel your pain. I have to do a module that uses Office 2007, for my degree. As I said in another thread, I installed it with XP in...
I have seen people say that Office 2007 works in WINE, but haven't done it myself. For my one university module, I needed Office 2007, so I bought the student edition, and installed it on XP in...
I have a 7600GT, and use the drivers from the NVIDIA site. Of course, almost every time there is a kernel update, I have to reinstall the drivers. Not a big deal, I can almost do the entire...
