Hi,
Did you ever resolve this? I'm having the same issue and it's doing my head in!
caljohnsmith, I think you were on the money when you pointed out the the boot files were on the partition while the XP files on a different partition. In the end I blew away every partition (after...
Thanks. I wasn't sure it was grub related but thought the whole thing rather bizarre and thought maybe it was 'cos of grub. sda2 is a fat32 partition so that it can be shared/written to by either XP...
Sorry I didn't provide an accurate timeline of what happened. I hadn't used XP for a while and I wanted to do a re-install of XP and replace Hardy with Intrepid. So I booted to the XP CD and selected...
[QUOTE=bridabom73;6452186]I found out its not Grub, and its not Windows. I tried reinstalling it with the Linux drive unplugged, and the Windows CD couldn't find any hard drives! >:( Its gotta be the...
Well strangely, after changing to what you recommended, the message changed to "Starting Up...." in the top left corner and nothing happens beyond that.
UPDATE: The quick background to this whole...
Hi,
I'm having very similar problems. My Bootinfo.txt is below, do you think I also need to replace those missing Windows files?

Grub is installed in the...
The solution in the quote worked for me too
Thanks heaps, issue fixed for me. Any theories why this would happen?
Same problem here. Have tried reloading through synaptic and apt-get update. Still empty.
I presume a security update broke this?
Solution found at:

In my case, it was a program called unison-desktop...
I am getting the same errors and driving me nuts. Any solutions?
Totally agreed.
On the one hand I feel guilty complaining as this software is entirely free.
On the other hand, Intrepid feels like it's such a step backwards. I've been using Ubuntu since...
Thanks for letting us know the bug has been lodged. Hopefully it will be sorted out as driving me up the wall
Hey, just to confirm that I am getting very similar behaviour. Can't seem to place any pattern. Even after rebooting.
Also ran the "strace firefox" and get the same as you do.
Yeah I managed to get readair working but it seems quite hit and go. Oh well, thanks for your help. Might have to wait until Adobe Air hits v1.5
Nice find. I installed Adobe Air but then when installing this app from Adobe's site, just says "Installing" on the page and nothing happens. You had more joy?
Mmmm, the version in the repositories works in the sense that I can fetch the feeds from Google Reader. However, when I mark some as read, that isn't reflected in Google Reader
Once of the last remaining hurdles I have for using Linux solely is using a RSS program that synch's to a web-based reader. I found a thread here that mentioned a version of Liferea that can do this...
Has anyone actually managed to get this working? When I run the /,configure it ends telling me I am missing about 6 packages, but those packages don't seem to exist anyway????
I have the same issue occuring on Compaq nx5000.
Good to see I'm not the only one.
EDIT: Did some poking around and this has been heavily discussed as a bug. ...
Thanks for the reply. Through some act of divine intervention, message no longer coming up and can still write to that partition. Closing this thread, hopefully never to rear it's ugly head again!
I'm really disappointed that despite all the hype surrounding this new release that mounting of local hard drives continues to be such a pain.
I have a really simple set up:
Win XP OS partition...
Well Mp1v did the trick. A 2 hour movie comes at about 1GB and the sound is a bit low but that's okay. Perhaps with Ibex it will be better with codecs etc.
thanks for your help
Thanks for the suggestions. I have tried mp3 and possibly mp1v, honestly I think every possible codec.
To test I did a recording of about 1 minute each time with no joy :(
Will definately try...
