is your system running with complete updates?
have you tried running updates after each change of display driver, etc?
You could try running newer distro?

this has resolved a few issues i have had in the past.
the only thing is i would try changing/using a newer version - run update first then if they fail - install ia32-libs.... :)
you try using a different display driver - try another opengl one. if this is happening to all apps.... :confused:

i use to from my TA days, but these days i dont like the taste of the paper you get from tea bags... i know i know, could get strainer and all... but i do a lot of contract work... so not really...

is your problem booting? logging in? etc. go on... you will be surprised, as we can simplify things very well... :p
try flashing/re-setting default on the BIOS, had the same issue with a dell optiplex. flashed and all was good!
did also have a custom build that required a complete upgrade of the BIOS, turned...
can you confirm which version of ubuntu you are trying?
also got a screen shot of error?
can you give a litle more information please?
i.e. which ubuntu verion you trying to use?
have you tried - formatting the whole drive again and starting from scratch? etc.
