    mdadm can't and won't let you create a raid5 with 1 disk. Minimum of disks needed for raid 5 is 3! so you can create a raid 5 with 2 disks and one missing. Which is a degraded raid.

    [ubuntu] 10.10 can't find my external drive

    I have a esata/usb2 box I can put sata disks in. In 10.04 it worked great. Now it doesn't even give any output in dmseg. not with eSata nor the usb.

    It still works in windows 7 (dualboot) though....

    Yeah, better just to remove the swap. Of cause if you are out of ram, your also out of luck. I have 12GB ram on my computer so I have removed swap a long time ago.

    sda-sdd is a raid on a pci card. After updating to lucid this came first for some reason.

    I have done a workaround with grub.d/40-custom, not pretty but it works
