I'm also running 4.0 RC2 - has been great (other than nvidia won't compile - as we all know) - I can finally use my focaltech touchpad without having to patch and compile kernels.
At some point I...
Worked perfectly! You are a scholar and a gentleman :)
That is really nice. Almost makes me want to try out Gnome3 again.
Hey - has anyone tried this with the Nvidia driver 304.43?
I can't seem to get it to work! (Although I had it working with the old driver).
Reason I want to upgrade is that this driver lets us...
Not being in the US myself, I don't know the correct company.
But find who is your local Clevo/Sager reseller, and put together a machine based on that (System76's are those, as are OriginPC's as...
About 6 months ago I made the switch over to IntelliJ (from Eclipse), and I'm loving it for just about everything - Java, Groovy, HTML, CSS, Javascript, SQL....
Obviously it costs $$$ - but it's...

No reason you also couldn't install Nautilus and let that take over your desktop.
That's what I've done ;) and I love it.
Yeah, I'm running GeForce GTX 280M, using Unity, on driver 285.05.09.
When/if(?) I crash next, I'm going to try and switch over to Gnome Shell, and see if that is any more stable.
I'm running my laptop monitor (alienware m17x, r1) and a dell 24" screen as well.
Just had a quick question for you all -
How many of you with freezing problems are running more than 1 monitor?
Thinking back to when I first install 11.10, I was only using 1 monitor, and...

Is there another driver to use?
Noveau doesn't support 3D, so you can't even use it with Unity, except the 2D version :P
Or do you mean, go to the Nvidia site, and download the latest? If so,...
ccsm
Dock down the bottom would be super nice.
Not have my Nvidia card run at super hot constantly.
Not have my machine freeze up multiple times a day.
My 11.10 installation (also nvidia, and 64bit) has been freezing constantly ever since I upgraded to 11.10, and it's driving me nuts.
I was actually about to post a note asking if anyone else has...
I've done this a few times. Short answer - I accidentally turned off the Unity plugin in compiz settings. Go into CCSM, and turn it back on.
So opened up to proposed updates, and got the update to the nvidia driver 285.05.09, but I'm still getting total system lock ups, I can't even SSH into the computer once it's locked up.
Anyone...
Count me in as a +1 here.
Shocked at how often 11.10 just freezes totally. I can't even get to a TTY to try and recover. Whole thing is dead.
Seems to be whenever I move windows is when it...
I'm also struggeling to work out where to set this option on a Grub2 system.
I had a look at the BootOptions wiki, and it seemed limited to Grub1.
For Grub2, is it just a case of:

Actually, that's a good point. I will do that.
Just want to check if anyone is running Lucid yet?
Any issues with the graphics cards? I noticed lucid is using the nvidia 185.x driver, and there are issues upgrading to 195.x manually.
...
The only way I've found to do it, is disable the nvidia driver :P
Not so great an idea though!
