Re: Restore files on headleass server

Re: Restore files on headleass server

I am not a RAID user. I prefer to managed separate drives in caddies in StarTech dual docking bay.

    Another reflection.
Do not attempt to install any recovery software on the same drive where data was deleted in error. You run the grave risk of overwriting the data you are hoping to recover....

[ubuntu] Re: How to read .max files

I found from using Recoll that multiple applications can share the same MIME type. Which can be confusing when mapping to viewers. For example Scribus *.sla can be viewed in XML editor. Likewise...

[ubuntu] Re: How to read .max files

I wouldn't. As I listed, Blender is in Ubuntu repo and/or you can compile PaperMan.

However digging deeper Blender requires a conversion (if original 3DS Max is unavailable).

[ubuntu] Re: How to read .max files

Much depends on _how many_ files to be previewed and commands then applied, file by file. I still maintain that Recoll is a very convenient tool to go through hundreds of archived files. I have found...
  13. Re: Booting from live USB BUT with extra programmes already installed

I would just add a note ... try a USB 3.0 port rather than USB 2.0 port. Even better if it is powered. I use powered USB 3.0 hub for multiple devices, interfaced to host PC through port on the back...

  19. [all variants] Re: How do I restore deleted files from rsync?

I suggest you use in future grsync (the rsync GUI) and enable "dry run".
And fall back on backups .. in case of disaster.
