Setting up Ubuntu studio for easy use
My friend just bought an iMac. I told him about Ubuntu Studio so is trying to set up his audio requirements so that they are on a par with the iMac in terms of ease of use and a smooth workflow.
Here is what he sent me:
I want to boot the machine (where my USB/MIDI keyboard is already connected), fire up a sequencer, select a virtual instrument, hit record and play some music. Right now, I have to launch Jack first, then the sequencer, then connect it to my keyboard. Then I'm not sure how to go from there.
Thanks!
Randy
Re: Setting up Ubuntu studio for easy use
You would use ladish to save studio configurations.
http://ladish.org/wiki/tutorial
You create a studio setup with whatever programs you plan to use and the routing configuration and save that as a studio. When you open that studio in Ladish it would start those programs with your saved routing config.Of course you can save several studio setups.

Re: Setting up Ubuntu studio for easy use
Search the dash for Startup Applications and then add jack to that
