ubuntu one folder question
i was recently interested in Ubuntu one because of Thunderbird’s file link thing,
and noticed there seems to be a Ubuntu one folder in the home directory by default.
(i assume it's been there since installation, but i can't remember.. i certainly didn't put it there!)
out of sheer curiosity,
why is it there? does it do anything?
i never had a Ubuntu one account before..
thanks!
Re: ubuntu one folder question
Hi ,
anything you put in this folder , synchronized automatically with your Ubuntu One Cloud storage.
Try to put there a file and you will see.
Of course you should already have added your Device (PC) in Ubuntu One account for sync.
Thanks
Re: ubuntu one folder question
The folder will appear regardless if you have an account or not and is inactive unless you open Ubuntu one set up an account.

Re: ubuntu one folder question
The folder is a bit of a historical relic. I believe originally Ubuntu One would only automatically synchronize files in that folder. Today, of course, you can have Ubuntu One synchronize any folder you want.

Ubuntu One is not pre-installed , but Ubuntu One installer is pre-installed . So in case you want to install the Ubuntu One service the folder is there. Ready :)
Re: ubuntu one folder question
i see.. so it has no useful purpose, other than reminding you to install Ubuntu one so it can be actually useful.. :P
thanks!
(marking thread as "solved")
Re: ubuntu one folder question
So does that folder mean (I am talking of the folder which is inside my home directory and appears with a Green Tick mark on it ) , I can store any file in it and that file will automatically get store in my Ubuntu One Cloud storage OR in other words that file will automatically go and get store online just by moving the file in the folder ??
(I hope I am clear with my ques.)
