Is the keyring a current feature?
Is the keyring a current feature or just an artifact of an old implementation? I believe I understand the objective of the keyring but, it seems to currently do nothing. If I leave the password prompt for the keyring open and attempt to connect to any network, it does so with no problems or requests for passwords/keys. To sum it up, what's the point?
Re: Is the keyring a current feature?
That is a good point. Honestly, I don't know myself. As far as I am aware the PgP system still works, however, I've not had Ubuntu ask me for a keyring for anything yet (fresh install, 12.04). So, I don't know. You could always remove it, if it bugs you.
