Depending on usage, I get around 5 to 5.5 hours on battery, HD movies are fine on VLC, Flash doesn't support VAAPI so no h/w acceleration but Lightspark and Gnash do. Suspend doesn't work if ATI drivers are installed but with stock open source it works. The system runs more or less same temp as running Windows depending on load.
Re: 11.04 on an Asus 1215b?
How can i activate VAAPI so that the system uses the GPU unit as well as flash? Is it possible to play youtube 720p at the moment?

Flash doesnt support vaapi even if its enabled. Install ati driver, download xvba-va driver from http://www.splitted-desktop.com/stat...va/xvba-video/ and then add catalysthacks ppa from https://launchpad.net/~dtl131/+archive/catalysthacks
Install vlc and enable GPU acceleration in inputs and codecs.
Re: 11.04 on an Asus 1215b?
So at the moment we can only have GPU acceleration in VLC?
Thanks for the fast anwser.
Re: 11.04 on an Asus 1215b?
For movie players yes, for Unity etc. its enabled by default once driver is installed.

Compared to what? The Win7 started that my 1215 came with almost made me return it till I installed Ubuntu.
Re: 11.04 on an Asus 1215b?
Seems like the hibernate/sleep issue, where the 1215b doesn't recover from sleep, is caused by the ATI/AMD FGLRX video driver. If you uninstall the driver from the driver manager sleep works. Unity will not work though, and no videoacceleration. I read somewhere that this issue with FGLRX is fixed in the newest driver from the ATI website. I haven't been able to get this driver running, it installs but libGL is placed wrong and everything seems to be in the wrong places.
I'm running 11.10 might be why the driver don't install.
Re: 11.04 on an Asus 1215b?
I updated to the official release of Ubuntu 11.10 and I see a big difference in performance. I am sure this is because of the new kernel 3.0 which is optimized for AMD Fusion APU. I wanted to see what everyone is using for power management. This thing can pull about 10 hours on Windows. I was using Jupiter before with good results(about 8 hours) but I wanted to know if anyone has any experience with anything else that is good.
P.S. I have an issue installing the AMD drivers, but the open source ones seem to be working very good
Re: 11.04 on an Asus 1215b?
How can i remove the ATI drivers and install the open source ones so that suspend works?
Thanks.
