If anyone has the time, knowledge and patience to write a letter to ACER I'll be happy to send it too.

I've complained to Acer USA support today. I'm expecting that the answer I get will be unsatisfactory. At least, I'll be able to say I've been through normal channels before trying to get the attention of somebody at a higher level.
A couple years ago, I had a problem with eBags. Their customer service representatives were refusing me a discount on the basis of an illogical argument. (This is what happens when the people on the front line are trained to read from a script: they don't realize or don't care that their replies make no logical sense.) I contacted the CEO directly by email and he replied very quickly and very apologetically. I got a phone call from their VP of marketing the day after. I stated my facts clearly and politely. It worked.
I have the Acer Timeline 3810TZ. Suspend and Hibernate don't work, but that is not a big deal for me. What really bugs me is the inability of the wireless to stay connected to my AP. Slow transfer speeds and what not. I saw someone made a post about this issue but didn't see any follow up.

molder: are you using Ubuntu or Kubuntu, some other derivative? I have run across that issue before with the GNOME network manager but never with WICD on my KDE. I suggest you give WICD a try, as at least in my case it wasn't hardware related rather the inability of the Gnome network manager to reconnect after my wireless went into power saving mode.
Hello again all,
Well, I've not been to this thread in a few weeks now because I've been overtly occupied doing other shtuff... I come back to find it already up to page 52. Wow. Nice to know that ACER doesn't really care about their products.
I personally think it's high time that we setup a petition and send it to ACER to show them just exactly what is wrong with their "technology" and how large the community is that uses this particular machine with an OS other than the Slave grinders try to force you to use (MS).
Anybody up for a petition?
I can say this, as someone else posted a few posts above, I'll never buy another ACER EVER again. I usually replace my laptop once every 1 to 1.5 years and I'll be damned if I'm going to ever buy a unit from ACER ever again.
It's really sad that our community is more proactive in solving issues that ACER will ever be. Typical. Too bad ACER didn't go by way of GM!
Petition!
The problem is Skype uses Pulseaudio instead of ALSA system if at the time of Skype start Pulseaudio is working. Here is some explanations
So, you should kill Pulseaudio process each time you start Skype and Skype will use ALSA. This worked for me.
I'd rather remove Pulseaudio system but honestly I don't know how - Dependencies...
Thanks, I'll try killing pulseaudio...
On a different matter, does anyone have a copy of the atheros driver? The link doesn't work anymore, and I need it (I know I don't in karmic, but I wan't to try something in jaunty).
New BIOS v 1.17 is out!!! Let's try it ;)
