If you are using Compiz, try in settings/preferences/compiz config settings manager under general tab uncheck Unredirect fullscreen :)
Re: HOWTO: Jaunty Intel Graphics Performance Guide
Thanks dentaku65. That fixed my flicker from full screen Firefox and desktop. Just a n00b to the OS, but getting into it thanx to the community. :)
Re: HOWTO: Jaunty Intel Graphics Performance Guide
THANKS! This fix worked wonders on my Dell Mini 9 and now everything runs nice and smooth again!
Re: HOWTO: Jaunty Intel Graphics Performance Guide
Does not work- on restart, ubuntu would not even boot up.
I had to boot into the older kernel for to roll back the changes.

Awesome. Thanks, that did the trick.
Re: HOWTO: Jaunty Intel Graphics Performance Guide
The OPs fix worked well for me. The UXA change made an initial huge improvement. The newer drivers made another strong improvement (HD clips on youtube are no longer choppy). Too bad World of Warcraft still isn't playable on my Intel GMA 950. I believe opengl is buggy on this card.

Would that fix work using the vanilla kernel for jaunty and the newer versions of libdrm2, libdrm-intel1 and xserver-xorg-video-intel together?

Jaunty's kernel has a regression in the DRM kernel module that impedes performance, unfortunately. However, updating the drivers and enabling UXA alone can give a performance boost (mostly 2D) over the stock Jaunty configuration.

Hey,
I've made a major update to the guide (added amd64 support, and moved towards using newer drivers from the xorg-edgers PPA). If you're interested, take a look at the guide again.

Thanks psyke83!
