Re: HOWTO: Send and Receive Hotmail through Evolution
With Ubuntu 9.04 and Evolution 2.26.1 I found the following settings work with live.com emails.
Go to Edit/Preferences and edit your email account.
Identity tab
Full name - enter your email address xxxxxxx@live.com
Email address, ditto.
Receiving Email tab
Server Type: POP
Server: pop3.live.com
Security: SSL Encryption
Authentication type: Password and remember password.
Sending Email tab
Server Type: SMTP
Server: smtp.live.com
Tick the box Server requires authentication
Security: TLS encryption
Authentication: PLAIN
Username: xxxxxxx@live.com
Tick the box remember password.
Everything then seems to work fine.

Re: HOWTO: Send and Receive Hotmail through Evolution
damn! this has pissed me off for the last time haha!
every now and then when fetching mail it start fetching like 50 some-odd messages. All of which are already in my inbox. so then i have 'new/unread' messages, filed by date with everything else, all over my inbox. it just happened like 6 times these past two days!
anyone have a fix for that?

wow perfect, I've been playing around for an hour trying to find out how to input my password, putting the TLS/SSL encryption and port 587 and pressed Send/Receive and it prompted me for a password. Your the man!

Hiya:
I have followed all the amentioned steps, including the port 587 step, but every time I try to send mail, I get:
Code:
Error while Sending message.
Could not connect to smtp.live.com: Connection timed out
Is this related to Evolution? Or is it a connection-net problem? I also have a memory leak problem, could that have triggered this window?
