Re: What's the future of Ubuntu? Your ideas, our care...
I voted KDE, but if Gnome can stay the way it is now with the 3.0 shell idea only being Option then Gnome will prob be with Ubuntu for many years to come. But if GNOME 3.0 becomes a headache for many users, then KDE may become a better option. Ubuntu is the distro, the DesktopEnviroment is subject to change and not set in stone. It just happens to use Gnome atm which currently is the better option. But who knows what will happen over a year from now. Lucid will be using 2.28, thats the only thing certain for now.

I'm not talking here about being identical. I'm trying to say that most of people who likes KDE is with Kubuntu, but they still saying that there's a lot of mistakes. Kubuntu still "unpolished" and many people would like to have a real distro who takes care of it. Of course, it should be a big move, but it's all based on Debian, so what's wrong about adapting to a KDE desktop with keeping gnome's programs ?
At my point, I'm talking here about a fusion of Ubuntu and Kubuntu in the near future. As known, Gnome 3.0 still in development, but the ideas in general and the shell seems most of Ubuntu users dislike it! Plus, I'm talking too about getting a better GUI look. Gnome is not bad at all, but is outdated at some parts. Migrants people from Windows, I think, will be more comfortable with KDE (Same design and kinda same customization).
Well, is the goal isn't Linux being more popular than what it is or just to permit for Geeks to keep saying "Ohh... I can't wait for the next release!".
Keep comments!
Best regards,
Chad
