Upgrading the Kernel via Synaptic.... trustable?
I noticed there's a 3.5v of the Kernel to install available, is it safe to upgrade on 12.04.2?
I have nvidia drivers installed bia Terminal (xorg-edgers), will that affect the upgrade? If so, a simple "sudo apt-get remove --purge nvidia" will do the trick?
HOW exactly to do the upgrade?
Re: Upgrading the Kernel via Synaptic.... trustable?
Already did, everything went fine.
On Synaptic, searched for "kernel-3.5.0-25", installed all except for the tools. No video driver uninstall needed, nothing. :D
Re: Upgrading the Kernel via Synaptic.... trustable?
Upgrading a Kernel from Synaptic is also acceptable action. But The Graphic drivers we can't decide absolutely . Because some kernels and some other kernels do not.
So which kernels need Drivers upgrade will be noticed before the release , because they through the tests of many PC's hardware and then only they will become stable.
So don't came to a conclusion that all time we need driver upgrade and no need of it. Its completely depends upon the kernel.
Enjoy Ubuntu!
