Re: i need help in lansing
I would suggest using the alternate text installer version of Ubuntu or Xubuntu rather than a live disc for installation.
I too live in lansing and the local Linux User Group (LUG) is the Greater Lansing LUG (GLLUG). Information about them and their meetings can be found here ( http://gllug.org/node/12 ). They do offer an installation night about once every month or two. I would suggest that you stop by to meet them and at some later date I'm sure they can help you out, especially installation night.
If I can be of more help feel free to drop me a private message here.
Good luck,
raindog

Probably the easiest thing is to add a bit more memory, then you can run many flavors of linux. Shouldn't cost much at all.
Please DO stop by a GLLUG meeting some Thursday. One of us can surely help you out.
