Frequency out of range - resolution change?
Whenever trying to run live or install Ubuntu 11.10 I get a Frequency out of range text sign on my monitor, well how can I change this if I can't see a thing???
P.S. it's not the grub resolution problem I had that on Ubuntu 11.04 and fixed it by pretending grub was there entering Ubuntu and changing grub resolution with Start-up manager.

That happened to me as we tried to update to 11.10. Then could not get grub up to get into windows or linux.
Fixed it by removing # sign from one of the entries in a grub file maybe grub .cfg -- not sure.
Trying to remember - maybe someone recalls file and line...

Sorry, unable to find the correct line info - so better have someone that knows for sure to help instead of being mislead by this newbie.
Re: Frequency out of range - resolution change???
you can pretend grub is there, enter Ubuntu then use "stratup manager" to change the GRUB resolution to fix that.
But that is not my error it wont boot at all I just get a blank screen when loaded.
I installed different OS's Fedora, Suse etc.
For example I installed Ubuntu studio but then when I rebooted it was completely blank and that was a single install (NO dual boot - NO GRUB).
Re: Frequency out of range - resolution change???
Does anyone know what is the resolution + refresh rate of Ubuntu 11.10?
What is new that makes the newer Linux OS's not work?
New GRUB, new Gnome or Unity or other???
