"Connect to server" won't... well, connect to server!

I'm running Oneiric with Gnome-fallback and when I go to Places -> Connect to Server and enter in my ftp server details, I can never get it to connect. :confused: It just sits there for a long time saying "connecting" and then it usually returns with, "invalid reply" or "connection timed out".

When I enter the same details into FileZilla, it connects, no problem! I tried searching for bugs and other reports of this issue, but it looks as if I'm the only one running into this (I'm sure the gnome-fallback narrows the field a bit!).

Does anybody know what the problem might be? Or if/where that "Connect to Server" process is logged? Or what I can do to diagnose the issue?

Nobody knows? Can somebody at least confirm whether it works for them?

If you're not already running Gnome-Fallback, it's a really quick install. After installing, logout and log back into "Gnome Classic". When you're done, you can log back in to Unity and uninstall Gnome-Fallback.

for the first time today i've had such issue, but be connected after trying several times. So something is borked, need to find what it is, kind of timeout too close.
