Umm is your wireless button touch sensitive
uniqueumang, are you asking me this question? If so the answer is yes. I touch the button to turn the wifi on and off if I want to. I usually just leave it on.
Hey guys!
Running Ubuntu Hardy on Acer 7730, and my wireless card wasnt working, followed this link, and in under 2 min it was working 100%, enjoy: http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Do...irelessdrivers
Just find out what kernel ur using by typing in: uname -r and then download the appropriate tar from the website.
Cheers
I am also having trouble getting wireless network working on my toshiba notebook. My notebook has the Intel 5100 driver. I can connect to a unsecured network, but I cant connect to my wpa secured wireless network. The wireless network works fine when I boot to Vista. I have pasted the results when running lshw -c network command in terminal mode.

What kind of secured network is it?
There are several problems out there with WPA2 Enterprise networks.
You can see more info in this bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/in...nt/+bug/272185
My problems were fixed by using the workaround suggested by Dan Bracey on Jan 9.
So in my case, it was not a driver issue. Let me know if you need more info. Good luck.
I followed the links on page 7, and still no luck. It was working yesterday, and when I woke up today, it was not working anymore.
lshw -c network shows the status of wlan0 as being DISABLED. Any clue how to get it going again?
Thanks again to 'theburningor' for his instructions to fix the Intel Wireless Wifi Link 5100 driver issue (see here)! I lost my wireless connection abilities a few days ago even though the latest driver was installed on my Intrepid.
What was key for me was going to http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Do...heretodownload and downloading the latest compat-wireless package.
What should i do?
I'm a newbie with linux i have ubuntu 8.10.
Please help me.
sorry but i didn't understand no.7
what should i write in Konsol?
Hi there!!!:lolflag:
I'm using Backtrack 4 in Vmware Workstation. I'm able to do bridge connection that way i can access the web browser. I having trouble accessing and following the step "The Burningor" provide us. I already followed all the steps he gave us,but it doesn't seems to function. I actually erase and re-began everything again without being sucessful like 2 or 3 times already. I had been investigating for a while, and supposedly vmware workstation is not able to detect physical wifi cards meaning that as a consequence is not gonna be able to detect this one. I seriously would like for someone to confirm me this to be sure.
Here is some useful information:
Quote:
Uname -a
Linux bt 2.6.30.9 #1 SMO Dec1 21:51:08 EST 2009 i686 GNU/Linux
This is what i get so it seems it is incompatible but for shure with this installation of some drivers and by compiling them i will be successful of course if this is what i think.Quote:
iwconfig
lo no wireless extensions.
eth0 no wireless extensions
