How did you get it to show the hidden stuff? I can't get my sound or headphones to work either. I have on board sound from a gigabyte ga-p35-ds3l.

HP Pavillion t3610.uk is a 6stack-dell
Working now
This is my first build, using an ATI M3A32-MVP Deluxe motherboard with the onboard sound. The output of my aplay -l is:
card 0: SB [HDA ATI SB], device 0: AD198x Analog [AD198x Analog]
Subdevices: 0/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: SB [HDA ATI SB], device 1: AD198x Digital [AD198x Digital]
Subdevices: 1/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 1: HDMI [HDA ATI HDMI], device 3: ATI HDMI [ATI HDMI]
Subdevices: 1/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
(I think that third is my video card... somehow...)
Does this guideline even apply to my hardware? I've followed it, ending up with 6stack-dig. (Just 6stack outputted the same on aplay -l, but that second device was missing.)
I'm still having the same problems I was having before. No headphone detection. Both the headphone and speaker are always on. If I want to use headphones only, I have to mute the Front slider, but adjusting the volume of that slider still affects my headphones, even though they stay on when it is muted.
Hi, this worked perfectly on my HP Compaq DX2300 desktop
I wish I had located your post earlier, it would have saved me a lot of time.
Thanks !!!
THanks so much solved my problem :guitar:
I've tried every single model in this thread, along with auto, 3stack, 3stack-6ch, toshiba, and lenovo. I have a Toshiba Satellite A135-S4727, and I can't even get sound to play out of my headphones AT ALL. After each model change in the alsa-base file, I restarted ALSA and PulseAudio. Headphones channel is up all the way in my mixer...

I'm trying to get the ALC888 chipset in my ASUS M70Sa to mute the speakers when the headphones are plugged in. I've tried every model variant. I'm now playing with additional options.
Has anyone found a combination which works for this laptop?
