10.04 - wireless no longer working - lenovo x61s
Hello all,
I got a second hand X61s laptop a few months ago, installed Lucid on it, and it's been working fine until this week. The wireless has stopped working. The function key combination to enable and disable the wireless no longer works so at first I assumed that some hardware had died, however:
1) The wireless hardware is detected and,
2) A working USB wireless adapter fails to be used too. (It works fine on another laptop running Lucid.)
I would really appreciate any help with this. The wired connection works but this just isn't practical for me.
Here's stuff I did that seemed to be indicated when I searched on this issue...

After this, I tried the USB wireless adapter. rfkill reported it as soft blocked (only) but unblocking it did not get it working.

Re: 10.04 - wireless no longer working - lenovo x61s
Okay, have just reset BIOS to defaults. Nothing seems to have changed with the wireless. I've noticed that there appear to be no user-configurable wireless settings in the BIOS.

Any other button/switch/etc? Please show
Re: 10.04 - wireless no longer working - lenovo x61s
Yes, there is a function button combination on the keyboard to toggle wireless and bluetooth but this currently has no effect.

[SOLVED] Re: 10.04 - wireless no longer working - lenovo x61s
Oh. My. Goodness. Well, I feel pretty stupid. There is another button to enable/disable wireless.
In case anyone else with an X61s has trouble finding it: The button is on the bottom of the front edge of the case. This button is hidden if the laptop is mounted on an X6 docking station. Note: This button also stops any external USB wireless adapters from working too.
Thank you, praseodym, for trying to help me.
