Yes on 10.04. But I have the exact same problem as described.
:(
What can i do?
Re: HP Mini 210 touchpad right click not working
I found that on the Ubuntu 10.04, the following command will work very well:
Code:
synclient TapButton2=3 HorizTwoFingerScroll=1 VertTwoFingerScroll=1 EmulateTwoFingerMinZ=29 EmulateTwoFingerMinW=5 JumpyCursorThreshold=200
On my HP Mini 210, the above command will enable two finger scroll (horizontal and vertical), disable random mouse jumping, and will let me tap with two fingers for a right click. The only problem is that the settings are "forgotten" when you reboot, hibernate, or suspend.
I believe this is just another way of accomplishing the same thing as the above solution (with synaptic-rules), but can be done on the command line. I hope this will be helpful.

THANK YOU!!!! This was just what I was looking for. It worked!! If someone figures out how to make this permanent (without having to execute everytime one reboots) I will change the status of the thread as solved.

I'm working on it. I think you will need to make changes to a udev rule for it, but I'm not that knowledgable on udev.

thx!
A version of this patch has made it into 10.04 so there is no longer any need to install it. However two finger scrolling is still not supported. There is one difference between 10.04 code and the patch, the size of the non-touch sensitive buttons is smaller in 10.04, about half the thickness, and with my fingers this makes the mouse buttons difficult to use.

I did notice that. It's annoying since when I checked, the patch itself actually lined up with the lines on the synaptics clickpad. The one that was placed in the kernel basically made it almost impossible to use. Well, you have to slide your finger along the edge of the clickpad if you have larger fingers.
I was actually hoping to just be able to apply the patch and be done with it. Guess we'll now have to wait for the kernel to get updated with better patches, or re-patch the module again.
Re: HP Mini 210 touchpad right click not working
Having same issue on 10.04... fix did seem to help a little. I can side scroll and tap to click. However, click hold highlighting and lassoing don't work. Any ideas?

You can get this to work but you need to re-train your fingers. If you click first (fingers off the main touch sensitive pad area) and then drag it should work. Not ideal - but good to know when you need it.

Open the terminal on your Mini 210 and
Code:
sudo apt-get install build-essential patch linux-source
The kernel source will be a tarball that is installed in /usr/src. Extract it to your home directory like so:
Code:
tar -xjvf /usr/src/linux-source <tab>
Note that pressing tab will autocomplete to the version you downloaded. Once extracted, change to the source directory and untar the patch attachment you downloaded at the beginning:
Code:
cd linux-source <tab>
tar -xzvf ../clickpad.tar.gz
Now we'll patch the driver files, copy the Makefile to the right place, and compile and install the new driver:
Code:
patch -p1 <clickpad_patch
cp Makefile drivers/input/mouse/
cd drivers/input/mouse
make
sudo make install
Reboot your machine, and you'll find the touchpad works like it should. Note that this patch is based on Takashi Iwai's fine work here:
http://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/67335/
hi all.
i'm owner of lenovo s10-3t, and after upgrading kernel to 2.6.34 from 2.6.33.3 i have same problem with my synaptics touchpad.
because Synaptics touchpad is Synaptics touchpad, even in Africa, i downloaded patch for kernel and tried to apply it.
there was a problem, it couldn't applay patch to synaptics.h (2nd hunk).
when i have opened the file, i saw that the line, that should be inserted is already there.
it's okay, so i typed make. i've got error about unknown symbol fsp_{init, detect}, so i had to add to Makefile line:
psmouse-$(CONFIG_MOUSE_PS2_SENTELIC) += sentelic.o
because these functions were defined in sentelic.h.
when i compiled module, i inserted it and... nothing new happened to me. touchpad buttons are not working.
ps i looked at 99-synaptics.rule for udev, tried it, but there was no effect. no effect at all.
only psmouse.modprobe worked for me, but, as it was said here, it is turning off right-hand vertical scrolling.
