Ubuntu studio Desktop

Dear Ubuntu studio user, I was using the 7.10 for several months and I have just installed the 8.04 from scratch. My problem is that the desktop is completely different (I have only one bar on the top with very minimalist menu and I do not see anymore my hard disks or usb key on the desktop).
I have managed to add the standard ubuntu menu bars (top and bottom) but still can't have hard disks and usk key appearing on the desktop.
Is that normal ? Am I the only one ? is that the way ubuntu studio 8.04 should be ?
