Re: Howto Install 32 bit Firefox with Flash w/sound and Java for AMD64
I could not get this to work with flash, plus there were some problems with your instructions.
First off, I was copying and pasting your commands and at the point in red...
Code:
cd ~/Desktop
tar -xzvf firefox-1.5.0.4.tar.gz firefox
sudo mkdir /usr/local/firefox32
cd ~/firefox
sudo cp -r -p ./* /usr/local/firefox32/
I had a problem, because no firefox directory had been created in my home directory, but instead it was on my desktop, so that should be cd firefox, or cd ~/Desktop/firefox
Then when I was actually trying to install Flash, I never had the option to change the directory. I was told that it was going to install it to /home/<username>/.mozilla and all I had for options were Yes, No, or Quit. And if I selected No, it just repeated over and over.
So right now I do have a working 32 bit Firefox install, but no Flash.
EDIT: Ok, so I figured out that you need a sudo before the last line of the flash install line, otherwise it can't install to anywhere but your home directory.
Just thought I'd point that out.
Everything works great now.

Sound still doesn't work for me after I did:
Code:
sudo chown -R berticus:users /home/berticus/.macromedia
Well, not exactly like that. Obviously I used my real username.... Anyway, the sound still doesn't work...

Please open your home folder, Click Edit, then Preferences in the menu. in the View tab, click the box next to Show hidden and backup files, then close it. Close the home folder, open it up again. Find .macromedia and try to open it.

Re: Howto Install 32 bit Firefox with Flash w/sound and Java for AMD64
I checked and rechecked .macromedia's permission, and it's belongs to me and it's under the users group. I also chmoded the whole thing to 777, and the sound still won't come out. Sound does work for me. I've checked it with other files.

What sites are you visiting that do not have sound?
Re: Howto Install 32 bit Firefox with Flash w/sound and Java for AMD64
I'm checking out youtube to test it all out. But I've stumbled some games, and they also don't produce sound.

Would you please go to /usr/local/firefox32/plugins and check and see if the flashplayer and libflashplayer belong to you?
Re: Howto Install 32 bit Firefox with Flash w/sound and Java for AMD64

Try this.
Code:
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/libesd.so.0 /usr/lib/libesd.so.1
