This is a problem that developed after I installed Windows XP to a separate partition from Xubuntu 8.04. My optical drive will no longer recognize or load CDs... yet it does DVDs. It will likewise hang (the drive just repeatedly skips) when trying to boot from a CD, yet it will boot from a DVD.
Any way that I can recognize if this is an issue that developed as a result of Windows/Linux antagonism?
