Have Macbook. Want bootable USB drive. How?
Hey everyone, the title says it all. I have a Macbook 1.1 (almost 3 years old) running Tiger. My optical drive is broken, and I need to be able to work on Linux on my computer.
I have an empty 8GB jump drive just waiting to be booted off of... but... but...
...there's no mac app for making the Ubuntu ISO USB bootable!
Or is there?

I think your best bet would be to buy an ubuntu usb from ebay heres one:http://cgi.ebay.com/UBUNTU-8-10-on-1...3A1%7C294%3A50

Naw, if it comes to that, I'll just download Unetbootin onto my friend's PC.

yes that seems more logical, I just assume everyone on this forum is to nerdy to have friends.:)
Re: Have Macbook. Want bootable USB drive. How?
You can use UNetBootin to create a bootable stick. I installed puppy linux on mine, but Ubuntu would work fine. In fact, UNetBootin can download/install from the internet without having to both seperatly.

unfortunately it is not as simple on a mac as it in on other computers. have a look at the Intel Mac FAQ:
