Whenever I plug a set of headphones into the headphone jack in Ubuntu, no sound comes out. My speakers, however, work fine.
Let's start with the easy stuff. Double-click on the speaker icon in the top-right of the screen. From there, check Edit>Preferences to see if there's a headphone channel you can enable by checking one of the boxes. If you can enable it and it works, fantastic.
If not, could you post the output of these codes?andCode:lspci
Code:aplay -l

Try `aplay --help' for more information.
Could you post the output of aplay again? The option is supposed to be a lowercase L, not a one.Sorry if the first one confused you. Those l's and 1's can be tricky.:)Code:aplay -l

Well, it looks like the only thing to do now is this:
Edit the /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base file with this codeThe next part is inserting a model name at the last line of that file. After saving the changes to the file, reboot--that's really important; do a full restart--and see if that model works. If it doesn't, move on to the next.Code:sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base
Here are some models that stand the best chance of working with that chip:To use one of those models, add this line to the bottom of the /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base fileQuote:

replacing one of the models above in the place of "model_name." Let me know if you run into any more issues.Quote:
options snd-hda-intel model=model_name
Sorry for the late reply, but it didn't work.
Same problem here.

Actually, there is sound coming out from the headphone if you plug the headphone out a little bit, it's very sensitive.
Don't know how to fix it.
Check another posting by worc. He just solved his problem [very similar].
