kde4 kubuntu ssh -X
Hi all,
I'm running Kubuntu 8.04 and I've been happily and successfully ssh-ing into my school's servers for many months now, and I recently upgraded from KDE 3.5 to KDE 4 by just installing the KDE4 package on Adept. I use ssh -X so I can get GUIs pulled up from the remote machine on my machine. Anyway, when I first upgraded I could do some of that still, and gradually it's gone to now where it always says X11 authentication refused or something like that...obviously because I have a different KDE version, but on the other hand I still have KDE3 installed, so I logged into that, and it still says authentication failed. There's gotta be a way (in my mind) to fix this. I've had GUI windows up from the remote machine in KDE4 even, so that tells me that there's gotta be a way.
Sorry for the long explanation. It's really not complicated at all.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
**UPDATE** So I just was able to get it working again in KDE3 by doing nothing at all. I didn't do a thing. Very confusing!

Re: kde4 kubuntu ssh -X
I don't know why its happen, but if ssh -X gives you X11 authentication errors it has nothing to do with KDE3 or KDE4.
Try check your ssh and network and X11 configuration, forget anything about KDE3 or KDE4.

Re: kde4 kubuntu ssh -X
Oh OK, thanks. I guess I just assumed it was KDE4 since it started happening after I installed KDE4. Well what might have changed in my X configuration? I mean I never go in and edit my xorg.conf file or anything, because everything was working fine. Any ideas to check?
