Re: HOWTO: Graphical IP Blocker
lolz Odd is your ISP copper.net, because I am using Juno with copper.nets DNS servers and well If I use junos than I can download the pipfilter, if I use copper.nets then I get a cannot connect attempt.. :/
as for your question - you should be able to to modify the proxy settings in connection or the place where it asks for that kind of info. I fogot.. :) plus that I cannot open ipblock gui the way I have it setup and plus that gives a bit of security if another person doesn't know how to use the command line,

I can manually update using a web browser and TOR
Just open /usr/sbin/ipblock (as root) and add the following at line 31
Code:
export http_proxy="127.0.0.1:8118"
If you're not using TOR+Privoxy then you could take the proxy's IP-address and port from your web-browser settings.
Re: HOWTO: Graphical IP Blocker
ahh working for me now, probably because the Second DNS just craps out on the first one. In other words using .22 will go nowhere except to query .21
Re: HOWTO: Graphical IP Blocker
So just to confirm. This works perfectly with iptables & firestarter, and there are no conflicts? One does not disable the other? They can be run together in peace & love?
PS: we really need that tray icon for the gui :D
Good work guys.
Re: HOWTO: Graphical IP Blocker
HEY!! this thing actaully works
thx
Re: HOWTO: Graphical IP Blocker
How can i know if its working? o_0
Re: HOWTO: Graphical IP Blocker
When you enable it ... try browsing to microsoft.com or mpaa.org, and report back what happens :D
Also if you start up frostwire with this thing enable, do a search on a popular song like Rihanna's "shut up and drive" and watch the logs (which updates in realtime it looks like) you will see many evil-doers being blocked :D

I have iptables and ipblock running as well and no problems so far at all. It's been running for days without any hassle.:)
For the tray icon u can try AllTray:
Code:
sudo apt-get install alltray
start it with:
Code:
sudo alltray "ipblock -g"
try "man alltray" or "man ipblock" for more commands and help
THX for the great HOWTO!
