Hi all,
Although did not manage to get the Dell wireless card working, I did find a solution for the Netgear device.
You need to download ndiswrapper for windows wireless drivers to work. Once installed find the system driver for your device (if you've already installed on Windows/Mac, these will be in your driver folder, else on the CD. I also include the driver files i used for anyone who wants them)
Install the drivers you need through ndiswrapper, restart your system if necessary then plug in the netgear device. It should then come up with "Hardware present" in ndiswrapper if you go check. And a message should come up on screen sayng that wireless connection is now available. Then just connect as normal and it should detect your network.
I hope this can be of use to someone, and worked for me in both Ubuntu 10.10 and Linux Mint v10 (both 32 bit). Else try the links at the start of this thread for further instruction until you get the right drivers.
Ok.. I don't know how your SOLVE is a SOLVE on the NetGear Card.. you gave me a ZIP file that had nothing in it.. someone want to help a fella out and find how to get this NETGEAR CARD to work. Wireless N-300 adapter WNA3100. The same one as above where it says SOLVED.
WHAT solve?
thanks for the help. If it is plain to every one else.. then help the DIM <--- Me out.
Apologies, I am useless with .zip and .rar files. Tried a different extension, Let me know if it's gone wrong!
I hope this one contains the files (2 x .sys, 2 x .inf).
I have the same usb card and I downloaded the file you attached and I used wireless network drivers and I got it to say that the usb was connected. I'm new to Linux and i'm using zorin 5. Any help would be appreciated.
Hi,
I am also having problems using a Netgear n-300 wireless USB adapter with Ubuntu.
I am a new Linux/Ubuntu user and don't know any terminal commands, or special Linux OS administration commands/procedures.
Is there a simple "download-and-click" solution for this (getting Netgear N300 wireless USB to work with Ubuntu)? Or if terminal use is required, I would need the most simple fix possible (due to my being a beginner).
I have to move my computer back into my own office and so I have to have wireless.
Sincere thanks in advance for any help. :D
In this case, download and click is the hard way and the terminal is the easy way; easier by far!
Please open a terminal and type in:Press Enter. Some data will appear. Since there are several versions of N300 and, I suspect, several different chipsets, we need to know the data before we can proceed. Post the result here. Thanks.Code:lsusb

The best way to install the driver for your device is with ndiswrapper; a system that uses the Windows driver. First, please verify that ndiswrapper is installed by default. Please open a terminal and run:Quote:

We hope we see:Code:sudo dpkg -s ndiswrapper-common
Next, download the attached file to your desktop. Right-click it and select Extract Here. Now back in the terminal, do:Quote:
Package: ndiswrapper-common
Status: install ok installed
Now is it working? If not, post back:Code:cd Desktop/wna3100-drivers
sudo su
ndiswrapper -i bcmwlhigh5.inf
modprobe ndiswrapper
echo ndiswrapper >> /etc/modules
exit
Code:ndiswrapper -l
