You don't need it anymore. Cold start is now ~7-8 sec, and after that, it takes about ~2 sec to start OOo.

It will probably end up in the PPA-Scribblers repository for Karmic before too much longer.

It takes Chris a few days to do the builds, and then they should be updated via the synaptic. ;)

2 - You can remove the existing version of OpenOffice if you wish with this command:
3 - Copy and paste OOO320_m12_native_packed-1_en-US.9483 onto the desktop then open Terminal and paste this command:
4 - Then paste this command:
Once you've done that you'll find OpenOffice 3.2 in Office.
I tried to follow all these steps. When I clicked Applications>Office, openoffice wasn't there. I'm now installing it through the synaptic package manager.
Update: I forgot to say I'm using the 64bit of ubuntu studio. Synaptic finished installing and it just installed back the 3.1 version.
Re: How To: Install OpenOffice 3.2
Thanks.. Worked like a charm. All I needed to do was substitute the name of the 64bit version in you instructions.
I did get a fail error though on removing the OO hyphen code during the removal of the old OO version. But it doesn't seem to cause any issues so far
Re: How To: Install OpenOffice 3.2
I would also like to say thanks; this worked perfectly for me and I can't believe how fast OOo is now! What a great product.
