US keyboard sub-layouts?
Hi -
At work I have a laptop with a USB keyboard and mouse (health & safety etc). The keyboard is a standard US layout (with € sign below the 5), Kensington model pk1100u.
Theweird thing about the keyboard is that it has 2 [backslash bar] keys: one above the right shift (between the [apostrophe doublequote] key and [enter]) and one next to the left shift (between [left shift] and [z]).
A bit weird but not a problem, except that in the US layout that key is mapped to [lessthan greaterthan] which leads to typos, because (like on UK layouts) I'm quite used to the backslash being there.
Now according to /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/us there is a sub-layout of the US keymap called classmate, which maps that key as [backslash bar]. However it is not listed as one of the keyboard layouts in the keyboard configuration tool.
Does anyone know how to select/activate this us - classmate keymap?
Many thanks
Alle Meije
