Hello everyone, I just installed Ubuntu Gnome 13.04 and I am having trouble customizing it. I installed shell themes, but they don't show up in the Gnome Tweak tool. And, the menu bar won't change color with my new wallpaper. For example: I want it to look similar to this [http://img.netupd8.com/my-humanity-icons.png] but don't I know how to change any of the settings to make Ubuntu look better. this is getting a bit frustrating!! Please help! ](*,)

To change themes, the best tool is Unsettings. It allows you pretty granular control over you themes - selecting icons-cursors-window decorations, etc. You should be able to change the Dash Blur setting in Unsettings.
I also use Unity Tweak for other settings. I can usually handle most things between these two programs.
You can, of course, use Compiz Settings Manager. If you do, be careful - you can really mess up your system.

The user themes extension in the gnome tweak tool needs to be to be installed and activated for the shell themes to be applicable. Make sure the themes are compatible as well or they won't work properly. Tweak Tool > Extensions
Unity Tweak Tool would be my pick for the latest versions of Ubuntu, as it has a number of features that are handled by other apps, but without some things that don't apply to Unity.
The top menu bar isn't set to change colour, though you can change the transparency of it so that the wallpaper shines through. The Unity launcher (left panel) and dash (Super key) should follow suit.

The Mod theme I installed had three different versions inside the extracted folder, so I had to select the correct version to place in the .themes folder.
