Ratioale for closing a thread
I recently reported a couple a post on an otherwise normal thread, were the post was possibly an advert for a completely unconected product.
I then went to post a hopefully helpful reply directed at the question the OP had asked, only to find that the thread had been deleted - presumably by a moderator in response to my report.
Is it normal for a single reported post to close the whole thread - this denying the OP and other users the otherwise useful information in the thread.
I would have throught that a proportionate response would be deleteion of the suspect post - and possibly a ban for the user making the post.
Re: Ratioale for closing a thread
The report you made was of spam - not only was it spam - it resurrected a thread that is just shy of 4 years old :)
The thread is here http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=676041 - the OP has not been back here for 2 years - I have closed it now though.
So to answer the main part of you question - the thread has not been deleted - it is just a long way down the pages :)

Fair enough. Thanks for the rapid response.
