New Ubuntu upgrade; lost support of wireless!
After upgrading to the latest Ubuntu, my wireless card stopped working. I keep on pressing the button but the little orange light wont come on...
I have an aspire 5517 with "Atheros Communications Inc. AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter (PCI-Express) (rev 01)"
I have tried drpjkurian's tutorial for madwifi with no success :(. (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1309072)
any help would be greatly appreciated:)
Thank you,
Sebastien
lucid lynx: lost support of wireless AR9285
upgrading normally implies making better ..........!!!!!!!!
........ often best to try a live CD before nuking a prior install ..
it has nothing to do with this strange issue of "turned off in the BIOS"?

Re: lucid lynx: lost support of wireless AR9285
my netbook came with a Atheros Communications wifi card too and i had to go through hell to get it working, took me like 9 hours of applying different patches from different websites but in the end one of them worked. just search for possible solutions, chances are you are not the only one with that laptop and ubuntu
